OUR STORY
We're Mike and Keri, the founders of Corporal Freddie's Fine Sauce Co. We value tradition (and all things old fashioned), so we're sharing our much-loved family homemade sauce for all families to enjoy. So you too, can experience old fashioned flavour, a taste of yesteryear returning to the modern day.
Our story begins in 1946, when Lance Corporal Frederick Cameron, otherwise known as "Freddie" returned home to Eaglehawk, Bendigo after serving in WWII. Times were tough for Aussie families, food and clothing were rationed, which meant life was about finding pleasure in the simple things. During this time Freddie became inspired to create his own homemade sauces.
And over the years his homemade flavour became incredibly loved by our family and friends, so much that, his children began making the sauces which the whole family savoured. It was this enjoyment that became our family tradition known as 'Pa's sauce' by all of Freddie's grandkids.
Our family tradition lives on through Freddie's grandson me, Mike, having been taught the crafting from mum. And on my wedding weekend in November 2017 to my wife Keri (when she joined our family.) I cooked up my weekend BBQ brekkie and drizzled over Pa's (hero Worcestershire) sauce. Our best man Jamie (over from the UK) took one bite and said, "gee man, you've got to do something with this". So, we had an idea. Jamie came up with the name Corporal Freddie's which keeps his title, uplifting spirit, sauce and the tradition alive. And by the end of breakfast Corporal Freddies Fine Sauce Co was born.
A sauce created, produced and loved by 3 generations of our family it was time to do our heritage proud and bring the taste of real sauce flavour to everyone. Along the way when bringing our hero sauce to markets, people raved about the flavour, the story and the homemade local quality. We want to expand our traditional family homemade flavour for future generations of the whole country. This is only the beginning for us, as we have big (yet humble) plans to come.
We're busy mastering Freddie's other much loved traditional sauces to bring you more real flavour so you can be delighted by more of the ‘Corporal Freddies’ flavour.
